First e-family in Kerala |
Doubts
remain as to whether St. Thomas has actually come to India. But everybody
agrees that there was a big Jewish settlement in central Kerala during
those times. It is indeed probable that, St. Thomas came to Kerala to
visit his Jewish friends here and during that visit he converted most of
them, including some of the locals into Christianity. We
firmly believe that we are descendents of those people directly Baptized
by St. Thomas. It is highly probable that we have some Jewish connections
also because of this reason. Coming
to more recent history, we originated from the Payyappilly family of
Palayoor. Two brothers belonging to this family migrated to
Kuzhukattussery our ancestral hometown during the early part of 17th
century. We are supposed to be the descendents of these two brothers.
Initially our family used to be called Payyapilly Punneliparambil to
remind us of the Payyappilly connection. Later we decided forfeit the
first part. The original Payyappilly family is now confined to Palayoor
and Chalakudy region. Initially
Punneliparambil family was confined mainly to the limits of
Kuzhukattussery. However soon we outgrew that place and spread to distant
places, major ones being Kalloor and Pariyaram. Punneliparambil
family is well organized. An efficient family trust is present. A complete
database of family members is present and anybody till the present
generation can trace their ancestry to the two brothers I mentioned
before, who initially migrated to kuzhikkattussery. You
may use this web site to trace your ancestry if you belong to
Punneliparambil family. |
